Born in Shanghai, Shengni Guo took violin lessons at the age of three and discovered the double bass seven years later. In 2001 Shengni Guo came to Germany and studied at the Musikhochschule Köln. Shengni Guo has been a member of the Munich Philharmonic since 2006, making her the first "woman on bass" in the orchestra's history. With her orchestra she has performed under such renowned conductors as Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Christian Thielemann and Valery Gergiev. As an internationally sought-after double bass player, she gives concerts all over the world.
