Galerie Fenna Wehlau - Anne COMMET

Anne Commet paints large abstract landscapes and territories. Having made the choice of insubordination to figuration, she is interested in textures, colors and the complexity of the surface of the canvas. Her work focuses on our relationship to the image and its evocative power.

In her painting or drawing works, the imprints and layers of paint or dry pastel are superimposed in a fluid movement as a suit of music notes or as if instruments playing together. This process creates, at first, a space full of energy and musical rythms. Yet, in the long time of the studio work, an image appears by letting a color express itself more strongly or by bringing moments of silence into musical sounds. By emerging finally at the surface of the canvas, this image offers a time of contemplation and an invitation to dive into each one’s perceptions.

More than the forms and pictorial elements, it is a deep commitment to color and matter that is expressed. Through her practice, Anne Commet offers us a personal, vibrational and musical representation of color and space.
