In “Utopias of Nature,” Roger Rigorth, Eberhard Ross, and Armin Muhsam weave together their artistic visions. Their exhibition invites viewers to view nature not as a static backdrop, but as a creative field that opens up new spaces.
Roger Rigorth takes us on a journey. His “Utopia of Nature” manifests itself in whimsical vehicles—organically woven boat hulls and floating cocoons. These are transit objects, often conceived as land art, that bridge the gap between reality and imagination. They embody that “interweaving” of time, functioning as a means of transport between the present and the future. Traditional craft techniques meet visionary forms, opening up new perspectives on nature and time.
Eberhard Ross provides the atmospheric space for this. In his series *On the Nature of Daylight*, light itself becomes the subject. His painting is a visual meditation that condenses daylight into rhythmic color structures. Where Rigorth’s vehicles are materially tangible, Ross makes the immaterial palpable and allows time to come to rest within the color space.
Armin Muhsam provides the analytical framework. His representational paintings depict landscapes as places where utopian architecture meets organic nature. He visualizes the points of friction—the “plastic collision” between humans and the environment—and critically questions our understanding of the structures and constructions of visions of nature.
The exhibition itself becomes the setting for a utopia that is not some distant vision, but one that unfolds right here and now through the artworks of Mühsam, Rigorth, and Ross.
