with Wolfgang Ullrich speaking
The painter Ulrike Seyboth and the draughtsman and sculptor Ingo Fröhlich talk about the art of living between Berlin and the South of France. While Ulrike Seyboth's paintings reflect the search for light and color, Ingo Fröhlich's widely ramified work is characterized by the observation of forms and lines. The exhibition is a juxtaposition of two artistic opposites who have been working as “Atelier vagabond” for many years in strange, unfamiliar contexts throughout Europe on the trail of nature's inexhaustible source of inspiration.
The art historian Wolfgang Ullrich described the two artists' travels “as a method for successively increasing artistic quality”, because the artists put their exchange from place to place to the test and constantly explore their works anew under changing conditions. “The frequent changes of location are therefore to be understood as a single, great exercise in concentration, as a process of continual purification.”
